Safe & Compassionate Care
Care Homes for Children requiring Behavioral Health Care
Provider: Nurses For Kids USA Nonprofit Nurses for Kids USA provides residential treatment designed to address the special needs of intellectually and multiple-handicapped children up to age 17, who live in Los Angeles County. The program offers a home environments in 5 different residential settings. Clients receive care and nurturing as well as therapy and education which enable them to function at their maximum level. Residents have a functional level of moderate to profound intellectual disability as well as additional mental, emotional or physical disabilities. Residents receive training in self-help skills each morning prior to leaving for school; after school they receive individualized speech therapy, physical therapy, and/or psychotherapy, depending upon individual need. Application Procedure: All residents must be referred by a Regional Center or DCFS staff. Fees & Payment: Families of residents pay no fees; funding for tuition costs is paid by the Regional Centers for the Developmentally Disabled and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services; Medi-Cal provides complete medical coverage for residents.
